In the fifth episode of ‘Charleston: The Bloomsbury Muse’ series, Philip enjoys the evocative power of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant’s still life painting at Charleston.
The vinegar bottle depicted by Vanessa is likely to have been the first painting she completed following the death of her son Julian in 1937, whilst Duncan depicts a luxurious moment in the kitchen during the Second World War.
These paintings are on display in our current exhibition 'Charleston: The Bloomsbury muse' until 10th November.
