Waking up in the redwoods was wild. I rolled in after dark the night before, so I had no idea what I was actually camped next to until the daylight hit my tent. Massive trees towering over me, beams of light slipping through—one of those “oh damn” moments that makes you sit up fast.
As much as I wanted to just sit there and soak it in, I had miles to make. So it was pack up the camp, throw on the sunglasses, and get rolling. The weather was perfect, the road was empty, and the coast showed off in a big way. It ended up being one of the prettiest days I’ve ever had on two wheels—hands down.
After a couple tanks of fuel, I cut inland toward Eugene. The scenery changed instantly. I followed the Umpqua River deeper into Oregon, winding through forest, cliffs, and quiet stretches of farmland until I finally pulled into my buddy’s place. He lives on a little farm with goats… which you can smell long before you see. It was the perfect stopping point, and I’m grateful he offered me a spot to crash for the night.
Day 2 of the ride was long, sunny, and exactly why I love doing trips like this.
