Container Falls Off Chassis After He Forgot the Locks! Well it's not often you see a container rollover without the chassis. This normally happens when drivers are in a rush and forget to set the locks. With 45,000lb of cargo, any turn can easily flip it over and this is the result you get.

Pier A is a high commerce area that directly leaves the ports, so shutting this down for long is not an option. Because of that I decided to do this in the most efficient way possible, by offsetting both rotators and doing a "pick and swing". The first step was to upright it, then at the same time we rotate it in between the rotators so the new chassis has a clean angle to back up straight.

When done properly, you save a huge amount of time by eliminating the need to reposition and rerig the trucks. Thankfully no one was injured, and Ricardo and myself got the scene cleared quick. You'll notice Alex is absent here too. This was the final day of his Japan trip so Ricardo was at the helm of mighty Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator.

Once the container was back on the chassis, I had the driver double check the locks and Ricardo disconnected our rigging. Just in the nick of time, as we get ANOTHER ROLLOVER! So stay tuned and be sure you're subscribed for that one in a few days.
