A list of DOOM Clones from the 90s on PC and MSDOS that you probably have never played or seen before.
DOOM and it's sequel DOOM 2 by ID Software were incredibly influential games, causing many developers to copy it's example. After the release of DOOM ID Software released other games inspired by it like Quake, Quake 2, Heretic and Hexen, while other companies like 3D Realms jumped on the bandwagon with Duke Nukem 3D.
But those weren't the only ones that were inspired. Lots of other companies, reputable and otherwise followed suit with their own DOOM clones. A lot used the Wolfenstein 3D style of a flat world because of it's simplicity, but a few pushed themselves and copied the style of DOOM more closely.
Some went even further and did their own spin on what DOOM accomplished. Not happy just emulating it's style, they tried to innovate by combining it with other genres.
Witchaven was a great combination of RPG and FPS, while Radix Beyond the Void mixed First Person Shooter with Arcade Shoot 'em Up. Finally, Realms of the Haunting blended DOOM with King's Quest and created a first person adventure game.
In this video we take a look at all three of those, with a small Witchaven Review, Radix Beyond the Void Review and Realms of the Haunting Review, though there are many more to come for future videos, including the absolutely terrible ones.
