How Illinois Can Transform the National Rail Conversation

With federal infrastructure funding being withheld in Washington, it’s even more important for states to step up. This makes proposed new legislation in Illinois especially exciting and important. State lawmakers have introduced three bills to improve service for the heart of America’s rail network. One bill would fund and grow a state railway program. Another would support initial design and engineering for high-speed and regional rail. The third would create an intercity bus program within IDOT’s Bureau of Railroads.
