【Pls look at the top comment first】For whoever loves to collect underrated and rare hair metal albums, this album by Moxy Roxx entitled "Victims Of The Night" should never be missed. Actually, nowadays in the 21st century, this album is no longer a hidden gem and it has gained popularity again since it was officially released in 2009.
Speaking of Milwaukee-based hair metal bands, Moxy Roxx really stands out and has been remembered by a loyal fan base. Moxy Roxx, Tokio Rose and Warp Drive etc., these 1980s hair metal icons let fans hear the memorable and glorious sounds from Milwaukee. "Victims Of The Night" can absolutely become one of the most precious hair metal collections for every fan and attract more target fans.
The band consists of Joey LaVie on vocals and keyboards, Brooke Lynne on guitars, Chris Martinez on bass and Jackie Ramos on drums. This is the classic four-piece line-up of Moxy Roxx recorded the epic album "Victims Of The Night" while other members like Mark Worpel (guitars) and Teddy Muller (drums) also played in the band.
In 1985, Moxy Roxx put out two singles on EP. The two songs "Time" and "Dreams" became the enlightenment to let many local fans first know the band. The EP features original member Teddy Mueller (R.I.P.) on drums, who was the co-producer for the songs. Before Moxy Roxx, Mueller played in the legendary hard rock band Axe with Bobby Barth. The two singles in 1985 were never reissued, but they are still loved by many fans and made them fall in love with Moxy Roxx when people first listened to them. If there is a chance, a compilation by the band combining the single EP and the full-length album "Victims Of The Night" is worth releasing.
In 1986, Moxy Roxx continued recording songs. Originally, "Victims Of The Night" was a single EP including five songs. During their active days, they toured throughout the Midwest and the east coast, and gained warm popularity. More songs that they recorded in 1986 were unreleased, but they are eagerly in need. In 2009, the full-length CD by Moxy Roxx was finally released and became a great tritube to the best years when they lit up the 1980s hard rock scene.
All the 14 songs were remastered in high quality. Idol Records did a great job to make their hidden songs heard. Their impressive run culminated with a headlining spot on the 93QFM Rock Stage at Summerfest in Milwaukee to a wall to wall crowd, and was simulcast live in 1986.
How popular Moxy Roxx is in the loyal fans' hearts ! Apart from the band's official Facebook page, there is Moxy Roxx Fan Page. Both include recent posts in the past few years. Loyal fans know that the band has reunited and came back to stage since 2011. On their official page, the 25th anniversary of Moxy Roxx (1986/2011) is actively promoted with posters.
Amazingly, some live videos of the reunited Moxy Roxx in 2011 are uploaded on youtube. They came back for rock and carried the rock passion again on stage. Based on the same line-up in the album "Victims Of The Night", their performances aroused fans' memories.
In the past few years, some news about Moxy Roxx came out and the band restarted updating their Facebook in 2019 to let fans know that they are still connected with therock n roll scene. Guitarist Brooke "Lynne" St James put out his new single for his first solo album and drummer Jackie Ramos accepted an interview in theRock River Times. Glad to see them share current things with fans and Moxy Roxx always keeps related with the fans.
This opening track "Summer Nights" sounds pretty cool. It can capture ears especially when the chorus appears. The keys played by vocalist Joey La Vie stand out and become a distinctive hook in the song. On their live show in 2011, "Summer Nights" became one of the repertoires by Moxy Roxx and they performed the song well on the live show, taking the audience back to the glorious and memorable 1980s when the song first came out.
Apart from "Summer Nights", let these addictive songs "Push Has Come To Shove", the album theme song "Victims Of The Night", "Broken Man", "Sheila", "Reachin' For The Stars", "Rosy" and "Dangerous Lover" become the precious collections in every hair metal fan's playlist. Though they have no ballads, these songs mentioned above are all written with cool melodies musically. Several songs sound more addictive after we listen to them over and over.
