Join us on a journey to the world’s largest underground iron ore mine in Kiruna, Sweden.
We’ll travel by bus deep into the mountain to the LKAB Visitor Centre, located 540 meters below the surface, in an area that was actively mined between 1980 and 1985. Today, mining operations take place much deeper—at around 1,500 meters underground.
Kiruna itself is part of a unique urban relocation project: due to ongoing blasting and drilling in the mine, the entire town is being moved approximately 3 kilometers to a new location.
