Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science, we leverage our 150-year history of technological innovation and scientific discovery to pioneer promising solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems, like deepening our understanding of the universe, speeding up processes that improve access to education and healthcare, and creating new and sustainable forms of energy.

Our flagship school provides a complete STEM experience for our undergraduate and graduate students in more than 50 academic programs across nine departments. Our dynamic curricula blend fundamental knowledge and training with practical application through numerous hands-on experiential learning opportunities. This multidisciplinary, design-based approach fosters entrepreneurial thinking, a spirit of teamwork and problem-solving skills — and it propels our graduates on to success in careers and in life.

This is accomplished through collaboration — with faculty conducting high-impact research in areas from AI and quantum technologies to coastal resilience and sustainability and with industry partners, who work with our students and faculty to solve real-world problems and turn concepts into reality.

The School of Engineering and Science is home to eight state-of-the-art research centers including the Center for Healthcare Innovation, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering, Maritime Security Center and the Stevens Institute for Artificial Intelligence — all operating at the nexus of science and engineering.
