In the grand finale of Gibson’s Lost Amps, I’m showcasing the sound of these rare ‘80s Gibson prototype cabinets—40 years in the making! After uncovering these abandoned 1984 prototypes, I was commissioned to finish them right. Honoring Gibson’s legacy, I blended the Gibson GA40 and Maestro GA45T schematics: channel 1 with the GA40 (cranked on a Gibson 335 bridge pickup) and channel 2 with the GA45T (cranked with tremolo on a Les Paul Jr. P90). To celebrate, I invited my friend John Bamber to join me in playing the National Anthem—melody and harmony together—captured with a stereo ribbon mic and 32-bit float recorder for glorious sound. While a full demo with Jim Hornberger is coming, enjoy this cranked demo of both channels in action! What’s your favorite moment of this series?
