I was prefishing for a tournament in mid-April and found a bedded fish that was given away by bluegill surrounding her bed. I could occasionally see the tail of the bass as she nosed down on my lure and I could see her wake as she chased the bluegill away. This video is at the end of 45 minutes working on her after she broke off a Zoom Trick Worm earlier in the standoff. I then cycled through my other lures before retying a heavier leader and tossing her another Trick Worm. Second cast you can see a wake going to the left, and then she hits my lure and the fight is on!
Rod: PB Custom Rods Medium rod with a very fast tip paired with a Sixgill Dreadnaught high-speed spinning reel.
My measuring board is a KetchX Red. These boards are the industry standard and accepted in most (if not all) kayak fishing competitions.
I let the fish rest so that I could get an accurate measurement of length and weight by utilizing Fishing Works (previously CalCoast Fishing) Donkey Leash. I always try to get one more click before dropping the fish into the water. I practice the Catch. Photo. Release. (CPR) method for bass fishing.
My kayak is a Feelfree Lure 13.5 powered by a Torqeedo 1103 AC Ultralight motor.
I have two Garmin Echomap 7" units. One is a Echomap Plus and the other is a UHD. My graphs are networked together and powered by a 50 ah Zpro Lithium battery through a Yakpower management system.
My adventures are recorded via Tactacam Fish-i cameras.
