Can art teach us who we are? Kourosh Ghazimorad, a self-taught calligrapher, explores how emotion and discipline collide in creativity, revealing two scripts he developed from this tension. His talk shows how calligraphy can shape not just artistic skill, but personal identity and character. A self-taught calligrapher since the age of five, he discovered an early mastery that allowed him to move beyond conventional training and into the expressive possibilities of the art form. Over the years, he came to recognize two distinct forces within himself — one driven by raw emotion, the other by precision and discipline. These dual impulses led him to create “Sensory Calligraphy,” a style rooted in feeling and intuition, and later the structured “Sarir” script, a testament to rigor and technical refinement. As his work gained visibility through his role as an art director, his focus expanded from personal excellence to a broader mission: using art as a means to shape the character of the next generation. Today, he blends tradition and innovation to inspire young creators to explore not only the craft of calligraphy, but the person they become through it.
