A hanging palate whilst singing can make your audience feel like you are singing off pitch – too low.
The sound waves passing through your nose, instead of through your mouth make you sound lower than your actual pitch really is.
That is more obvious when your basic sound is soft, rather than sharp. Sharpness in sound gives your sound more overtones and hides the fact that your palate is hanging a bit.
