Stapler won't stay open !?! Stapler Spring Replacement - Here’s a classic styled stapler. (Funny: It is a STAPLES stapler…) This appears to be a newer, quality stapler. It has one small problem. It doesn’t want to stay open. So when you go to put some papers in it in, put your fist on the top with a quick stroke, the stapler is essentially closed. There are times you want to use a stapler wide-open. For example, if you’re posting something onto a bulletin board, you open up the stapler and you use it without the base. If we look at this one, we see that the internal mechanism that expands the jaws is missing the spring. There does not appear to be a distinct location for a spring. No wonder it was in the junk drawer. Reuse, Rethink…
Reinvent! What would hold this stapler open? Recently replaced a foam cover on a grab bar, the feel, the squish, was mentally at hand. Cut a section to fit in the stapler base, the compress or truncate as needed. Simple solution to hold the stapler jaws open.
