In the game of Yugioh, one of the major card types is traps, which often have powerful effects, but have the downside of needing to be set first, with some notable exceptions. Trap cards are divided into three separate categories: Normal, Continuous and Counter, with the first two types having spell speed 2 priority and the latter being what constitutes spell speed 3. While normal and continuous traps can be chained by cards like monster quick-effects or quick-play spells, counter traps can only be chained by other counter traps, often making them the last part of the chain. This list will focus on some of the best and worst counter traps from the very beginning of the game, before the advent of synchro monsters.
