A request was made for setting up and flying an LPV approach in the Gulfstream IV. Here ya go. This approach is just like an ILS. It's a GREEN needle approach even though it's using GPS. You do NOT have to check RAIM on this approach because a portion of the system is ground based. The LPV approach is entered the same way into the FMS as you would an ILS (except you will enter a RNAV approach). It's set up the same way as an ILS. You must PREVIEW the course and set the MDA. And, you execute the approach by pressing the APR (Approach) button... just like an ILS. The only difference is you must select ON the LPV ENBL (LPV ENaBLe) switch when within the airport terminal area. And, you should take out any airport localizer frequency in both NAV 1 and NAV 2 radios.
