I looked at her, this twenty-six-year-old marketing coordinator whose biggest health crisis had been a sprained ankle from a yoga retreat. At twenty-nine, I'd become an expert at swallowing words along with the pills that kept my damaged heart functioning.
"It's just medication, Vanessa," I said quietly, shaking out the beta-blocker and ACE inhibitor.
"It's always something with you," my father added, not looking up from his menu.
