The Blasian Wardrobe: Fusing Vietnamese & Xhosa Fashion (& A SEWING PATTERN}

This was originally recorded on 26 March, and I have since been sweetly corrected on my pronunciation of ao dai so my apologies in advance. This is hopefully the beginning of more explorations of Afro-Asian (or Blasian) connections in fashion. I created this apron top drawing from Xhosa ncebetha last year for a different project, and recently found some interesting visual similarities with Vietnamese ao dai. I wanted to play around with that by reworking my apron with more typically Asian design details such as narrow binding, crossover closers, and pairing it with wide-leg pants.
