Installing a New Carport

We are putting up a carport over our camper...but we have to build a concrete pad to put the side rails on. We had asked a concrete contractor for a price to do a full concrete pad just a little bigger than the carport. The pad size would be 21 feet by 41 feet. The quote we were given was $10,000. So with that information, we decided to come up with a plan that is less expensive. The first thing we considered was pouring the entire pad ourselves, section by section. However, that seemed to be a daunting task. So after several iterations of ideas, we came up with a plan to install 12" wide parallel strips for the legs to rest on, and to only pour manageable sections. The first step is to dig out a level "trench" to be able to put down stone and then the concrete forms.

As for some background, we bought 24 acres in October of 2021, and we are selling our house of 24 years to move to the property in 2025. Follow along as we build our homestead on raw land and bring the farm back to life.
