After the earlier sessions discussing the difference between three types of wrongdoing (Thanb - Sayyi’ah – Ithm) all commonly translated as ‘Sin,’ we speak today of khaṭaʾ and khāṭīʾah.
There is an important difference between these two, in that the first is a non-deliberate, unintentional wrongdoing, whereas the second is a wrongdoing committed deliberately and purposefully.
This distinction helps us better notice what type of wrongdoings were committed by Pharoah, the brothers of Joseph, and the people of Noah.
We also marvel at the descriptive adjectives given to our prefrontal cortex/ frontal lobe, which is responsible for our executive functions, cognitive skills and planning.
