The House of Dun is a National Trust for Scotland property in the parish of Dun, lying close to the edge of Montrose Basin and situated approximately half way between the towns of Montrose and Brechin, in Angus, Scotland.

With stunning vistas overlooking Montrose Basin and set amid glorious gardens and woodland, House of Dun is every inch the perfect 18th-century laird’s home – and a fantastic day out for all the family. Built in 1743 to replace the medieval tower house that had been home to the Erskine family since 1375, the house is filled with treasures that tell the stories of the people who lived here.

Now home to the Angus Folk Collection, the courtyard buildings at House of Dun have been transformed into an exciting new visitor experience, celebrating the people of Angus and bringing their stories to life. Discover the fascinating history of rural life in the region and explore the important role played by the horse and the plough, as well as learn how vital the agricultural industry is to Scotland.
