The BLACK PEARL Explained! | Supernatural, but invincible?

Resurrected from the depths of the ocean by Davey Jones, the Black Pearl is a legendary Pirate vessel equipped with a black hull and large black sails. As the fastest ship in the Caribbean, the Pearl is capable of overtaking or fleeing all other seagoing vessels. As long as the ship sailed with the wind, even Davey Jones’ supernatural vessel, the Flying Dutchman, could not match the Pearl for speed.

Though somewhat enchanted, the Black Pearl could still sustain damage and be sunk. To counter this, the vessel has onboard 32 twelve-pound cannons, with 18 on the gun deck, and 14 on the upper deck – however, the ship lacks any chase guns that can be utilized during a pursuit, or an escape. This light artillery payload is minimalistic compared to other ships in the Caribbean, but allows the Pearl to maintain its raw speed and maneuverability -negating this handicap.

With the Pearl terrorizing the Caribbean for the better part of a decade – she has become an infamous living legend, and feared vessel of the seas.
