WW2 MASSACRE AT ORADOUR SUR GLANE 1944 | French village exterminated by German SS troops after D-Day

The Oradour-sur-Glane massacre was a tragic event during WW2 that occurred on June 10th 1944, just days after D-Day. SS troops from the "Das Reich" division brutally killed 642 villagers in the small French town. Men were shot, while women and children were locked inside the Church of St. Martin and burned alive. This atrocity stands as one of the worst war crimes on French soil during World War Two, symbolising the brutal repression in Nazi-occupied France. After the war, under the orders of Charles de Gaulle, Oradour-sur-Glane was never rebuilt, and its ruins remain preserved today as a memorial to those who perished.

I've been a storyteller all my life with a deep love of history. As a dreamer in Sunday School, I was mesmerised by the stories of the Bible - David and Goliath, the Battle of Jericho and the parting of the Red Sea.
