The Horus Heresy stands as the first and most devastating civil war in the history of the Imperium of Man. Fully half of the Emperor’s demigod sons—the Primarchs—along with their Space Marine Legions, mortal auxilia, and even the once-loyal priests of the Mechanicum, turned against the Master of Mankind. It was a time of fratricide, of betrayal and fire, when the galaxy drowned in the blood of its own champions.

But why did Horus, the Emperor’s favored son, the Warmaster of the Great Crusade, rise in rebellion? This was no ordinary general. He was a strategist without peer, a leader who fought with brilliance and compassion, sparing lives whenever possible.
