Here's a multi-role mission where I definitely made the right decision by using an ATF (the F-23 - I don't consider this mission difficult enough to justify the F-22), due to the ATF's speed reducing transit times to/from the ground targets. (When I saw that one of the ground targets maxed out the distance indicator at 99 miles, I knew it would take a while to get there and back.) There were some enemy air targets to break up the tedium of getting to the ground targets at least, but (of course) not during the return trip. I think the most interesting part of the return trip was flying past the remains of ground targets that I'd already destroyed (those black marks on the ground that are bigger than the semi-random(?) black marks that are visible at low altitude).
