The Whiterocks rivers flows for 29 miles along the southern slopes of Utah's Uintah Mountains before entering the Uintah River. The upper portion is in the Ashley National Forest and offers good public fishing for mostly brook and cutthroat trout with a few golden trout reported to exist in the headwaters. Forest Road 492 gives access to 7 miles of the river in the national forest. There is then a 5 mile section running thru a canyon with no official trail until it splits into its East and West forks which are then crossed by a trail. So if your looking for some remote unpressured backcountry fishing this could be a place for you. Some of the rocks may be white but many are also jagged, making wading in these powerful currents a little dangerous. Trying to find a break in these strong currents is the key to finding fish.
