What does 50% & 66% Possible Het Mean?? Crested Gecko & Reptile Genetics Explained with Diagrams

I remember when I first saw 50% and 66% het axanthic geckos for sale and they were SOOO much cheaper than a 100% het. Being new to the reptile community (they say Crested Geckos are the gateway drug haha!), I had no idea what these percentages meant. I have since learned in depth and even why these percentages exist. So, enjoy the video! I hope it will help completely clear up any confusion you may have. a = lower case "a" represents an axanthic allele (recessive)


For the sake of illustrating in this video how the genes are passed down, I have designated the following, but this is not established genotyping:

B = capital "B" represents any base color (red, yellow, or black) that is visually expressed when the animal is not homozygous for axanthic.
