Following months of virtual prep and co-design, a team of Cadence Design Systems volunteers visited Kampala, Uganda in the fall of 2023 to implement solutions supporting Women in Technology Uganda (WITU).
The team supported WITU's work in eliminating the gender gap in technology roles in Uganda by empowering young women with technology and entrepreneurship skills. A Team4Tech partner since 2019, WITU offers a collaborative environment for learning and mentorship to drive social and economic development in the region.
In this 2023 program, Team4Tech proudly facilitated three sub-teams of volunteers to co-design and implement solutions with WITU—to create a school-based hackathon to drive interest and engagement in STEM, build a web-based job platform for WITU women to connect with job opportunities, and launch the first makerspace for women and girls in Kampala.
