📌 1. What is CPR?
CPR (Central Pivot Range) is a price-based indicator used to identify key intraday support and resistance levels. It helps traders determine market bias — bullish, bearish, or sideways.
CPR consists of three levels:
• TC – Top Central
• Pivot Point – Central Pivot
• BC – Bottom Central
📌 2. How to Do CPR Width Analysis
CPR Width indicates volatility and helps plan your trading approach:
• Narrow CPR → Expect a breakout day
• Wide CPR → Likely range-bound or sideways market
💡 For option buyers, Narrow CPR + breakout confirmation offers trading opportunity.
📌 3. Understanding Narrow vs Wide CPR
• Narrow CPR: TC and BC are close together. Indicates a build-up of pressure, may lead to a strong move in one direction.
• Wide CPR: TC and BC are far apart. Suggests a stable market with lesser chance of breakout — ideal for range-bound strategies.
📌 4. Trend Analysis Using Ascending and Descending CPR
• Ascending CPR: Each day’s CPR is higher than the previous day → Signals a strong uptrend.
• Descending CPR: Each day’s CPR is lower than the previous day → Indicates a downtrend.
✅ This trend identification is especially helpful for swing traders looking for confirmation.
📌 5. Two-Day Pivot Relationship & How to Spot Trends
This compares today’s CPR with yesterday’s to understand market sentiment and possible price action.
Types of CPR Relationships:
1. Unchanged Value → Sideways Market
CPR levels remain nearly the same as the previous day
Expect range-bound movement, low volatility
2. Inside Value → Breakout Opportunity
Today’s CPR is entirely inside yesterday’s range
Signals price compression and possible breakout
3. Outside Value → Potential Range Market
Today’s CPR is completely outside the previous day’s
Despite price shift, often results in choppy or sideways action
4. Overlapping Higher Value → Moderately Bullish
CPR overlaps but is slightly higher than yesterday’s
Indicates a gradual bullish trend
5. Overlapping Lower Value → Moderately Bearish
CPR overlaps but is slightly lower than yesterday’s
Indicates a gradual bearish trend
📌 6. Understanding Virgin CPR
• Virgin CPR: When price does not touch the CPR levels at all during the day.
• These untouched levels often act as strong magnets or reversal zones on the following day.
🧲 Example: If CPR is left untouched today, price may likely retest that level tomorrow as support/resistance.
