Welcome to "Life of Rice – Episode 1", where we honour அரிசி (Rice) – the heartbeat of Tamil kitchens and the soul of every sacred meal. 🌾 In this journey, watch rice transform into timeless delicacies: soft Idlies, golden Adhirasams, airy Appams, and the humble, healing Pazhaya Soru – all made in a loving village kitchen, just as our ancestors once did.

In Tamil Nadu, rice is not just a grain – it’s a legacy. We planted each seed with bare hands and quiet prayers, beneath skies that once heard the same songs from our great-grandmothers. As the saplings grew, so did our reverence – for water, for wind, for the wisdom of the land. 🌱

The harvest? A festival. Stalks swayed golden in the breeze, and our hearts swelled with gratitude. We sun-dried each grain under Amma’s watchful eyes. "Patience cooks the best meals," she said. And so we waited – turning, tossing, guarding the grains like treasure. Then came the grinding – ancient stones spinning like time itself, releasing the aroma of fresh rice flour.

From there, the real alchemy began:

Idlies steamed soft and white, like clouds you could eat, best with spicy chutney and a whisper of ghee.

Appams, lace-edged and soft at the centre, perfect with sweet coconut milk or spicy stew.
