This recipe is designed for a single 12-inch pizza.
Dough Ingredients
1 cup (240ml) Warm Water
1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) Active Dry Yeast
1 tsp Sugar
2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 tsp Salt
1 tbsp Olive Oil (plus extra for the bowl)
Topping Ingredients
1/2 cup (120ml) Tomato Pizza Sauce (homemade or store-bought)
1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Fresh Basil Leaves
A drizzle of Olive Oil (optional, for crust)
Simple Instructions
Activate Yeast: Mix water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand 5 minutes until foamy.
Mix Dough: Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Pour in the yeast mixture and 1 tbsp of oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
Rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 60–90 minutes until doubled in size.
Assemble: Punch down the dough and roll/stretch it into a 12-inch circle. Place it on your baking sheet.
Top: Spread sauce evenly, then top with mozzarella and fresh basil.
Bake: Bake in a preheated oven (475°F / 245°C) for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
