After hearing that an empty ethanol extra was ready to go north from Cranston, I drove down to Valley Falls to get the train. Showing up first was PR-3 finishing their day with GP38s 2006 and 2008. Right on their tail was the empty ethanol extra running as WX-2 with a trio of P&W GP38s. WX-2 ran light down to Pawtucket where they grabbed the empty ethanol extra from PR-3 who brought it from Cranston. In the span of 2 minutes, I captured 5 of P&Ws six GP38s in one spot. With no G&W units in sight, it felt like 2015 again. I decided to give chase of the ethanol catching them north of Valley Falls yard, Millville, MA, and finally Uxbridge, MA. In Uxbridge the trio of classic GP38s sounded amazing as they throttled out of a slow order in fantastic late afternoon light. This wouldn't be the only time I saw an ethanol with a solid P&W Painted lashup. Five months later in October, I got word that P&W WODA was bringing down a loaded ethanol extra. Power for this train was fantastic in the form of P&W 3905, 2006, and 4004 making for another classic 2015 era lashup. I chased them from Valley Falls to Providence where I called it a night. Definitely awesome to see solid P&W lashups in 2021 where G&W units dominate the scene.
