Route Map of the Kedarnath Trek
The Kedarnath trek is a 16 km trek which starts from Gaurikund. Earlier the route followed was from Rambara, it was a well developed, well fenced and a facilitated trek route. However the Gov has now changed the trek Route of Kedarnath after the 2013 disaster as the old trek route to Kedarnath was completely erased. Reach at Gaurikund (6km approx) through shared taxi from Sonprayag
Gaurikund to Jungle Chatti(4km) through the Rambara Bridge.
Jungle Chatti to Bheembali (3km)
Bheembali to Linchauli (4km)
Linchauli to Kedarnath Base Camp (4km)
Kedarnath Base Camp to Kedarnath Temple (1km)
Helicopter services is available for Kedarnath Yatra ( 5 Seater Bell 407 Helicopters).
They also provide charter service to All the Dhams by Helicopter from Delhi and Dehradun as well
Kedarnath Mandir (Kedarnath Temple)
Is a Hindu temple (shrine) dedicated to Lord Shiva (Mahadeva).
Located on the Garhwal Himalayan range near the Mandakini river, Kedarnath is located in the state of Uttarakhand, India.
Due to extreme weather conditions, the temple is open to the general public only between the months of April (Akshaya Tritiya) and November (Kartik Purnima, the autumn full moon)
The temple is one of the four major sites in India's Chota Char Dham pilgrimage of Northern Himalayas. And holds the highest importance among the five panch kedar and this temple is the highest among the 12 Jyotirlingas.
Bhairavnath (BhairavBaba) Temple Kedarnath
At a distance of 500 m from Kedarnath Temple, Bhairavnath Temple is situated on a hillock towards northern side of the Kedarnath Temple.
Bhairavnath Temple is one of the most popular temples in Kedarnath after Kedarnath temple. This temple is dedicated to God Bhairav, who is supposed to be the main gana of Shiva. The weapon of the Lord is Trishula and his vahan is a dog.
The deity of the temple is also known as Kshetrapal or the guardian of the region. According to legend, when Kedarnath Temple closes during winter months due to heavy snow fall, the deity in Bhairavnath temple protects the main temple area as well as the whole Kedarnath valley.
The trek distance from Kedarnath temple to Bhairavnath Temple is 500 meters. The place offers the magnificent views of Kedarnath Temple and entire Kedarnath Valley.
