‘Sur L’Entrée de Louis XIII à Paris’ is a French royalist song supposedly dating back to 1628, being allegedly written shortly after King Louis XIII entered the city in December of 1628. The song tells of the aftermath of the siege of La Rochelle and a procession by the King from Paris’s Palace Royale to the Louvre (palace not museum), ending with a display of fireworks over the Seine.
This song is in late Middle French, not modern French, so has different spellings and pronunciations. There are no English translations I could find online, so did my best as someone who (at the very best) only knows a sorry bit of mediocre French. Please do forgive me if the lyrics are not correct, the original ones or the English.
I am unsure who this recording was done by, but the album was released under the Société d’Etude et de Relations Publiques.
