About this video: If you want to know how to download and install shaders with Minecraft mods, this is the video for you! We show you how to use Shaders with Forge mods and Fabric mods meaning that no matter what, you will be using shaders with your Minecraft mods after this video!

First things first, you will need to get shader packs. These are what actually add shading to Minecraft. There are tons of shader packs out there all with their own unique styles. We have a link in the description above to some of the best shader packs for Minecraft. The one you choose is completely up to you! Just make sure it is compatible with the same Minecraft version as your mods.

Let’s start with Forge mods now that our shader packs are downloaded. In order to get shaders with Minecraft mods on Forge, we will be using Optifine. Not all mods will work with Optifine though. In those cases, it may not be able to add shaders to Minecraft mods.

To get started though, you will need to download and install Forge. There is a guide on getting Forge installed in the description above. This is done just like you would for other Minecraft mods when you want to use shaders with your Minecraft mods.

After that, we can move on to downloading Optifine. You can find a link to download Optifine in the description above. Optifine is the mod that links shaders to Minecraft. After going to the link in the description above, click the “Download Optifine” button to go the official Optifine download page.

When downloading Optifine, make sure it is for the same version as your mods. Once it is downloaded, open Minecraft with Forge. Then, click the “mods” button. Click the “Mods Folder” button and move the Optifine file you downloaded into this folder.

Restart Minecraft with Forge and go to “Options”, “Video Settings”, and you will see a “Shaders” button. Click this, and open the shaders folder using the button at the bottom of the screen. Add your shader packs here, and when you go back to Minecraft they will be installed! Just click them and click “Done” to activate!

What about how to use shaders with Fabric mods? Well, we can’t use Optifine for that. Instead, we will use Iris shaders. You can find a link to Iris in the description above. Click the “Download Iris” button on our Iris Shaders guide. Then, navigate to the Iris shaders download page.

On this page, download the Iris Installer. Open the Iris Installer with Java and install the “Fabric” version of Iris. Once it is installed, you will be able to play Minecraft with Fabric mods with shaders installed. Just add your shader packs to the shader packs folder, you will be able to activate them in-game with any issue.
