The Parque Centenario, located right in the heart of Cartagena de Indias, is a true urban oasis between the historic neighborhoods of Centro and Getsemaní. Recently remodeled and carefully maintained, this park is a peaceful green space enjoyed by both locals and visitors exploring this incredible port city.
Cartagena de Indias is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, declared in 1984, and Parque Centenario sits surrounded by some of the city’s most important landmarks, including the Torre del Reloj (Clock Tower), the Julio César Turbay Ayala Convention Center, and the brand new Four Seasons Hotel and complex, built along Calle de la Media Luna.
Visitors to Centenario Park can relax under the shade of large trees, enjoy the sound of birds, and take a break from the busy streets of the Old City. One of the park’s most unique attractions is its urban wildlife—keep an eye out for monkeys moving through the trees and even sloths, which can sometimes be seen hanging peacefully above the walkways.
In this video, we explore Parque Centenario as part of our series “Places of Cartagena”, showcasing why this park is a must-see stop when walking between Centro Histórico and Getsemaní.
