This video is a full start to finish kintsugi repair using modern materials. I would call this repair an Alternative Kintsugi repair. It is using a FDA compliant epoxy that I will occasionally use if a client needs a repair done using non Urushi materials because of a severe allergy to Urushi or Urushiol. The techniques that I describe in this video are based on techniques that are used when urushi is used but adapted to modern epoxy. I will be trying to put together another video using urushi as the repair materials as well. If you are interested in repairing an ornament yourself as a first project, I have created a limited edition kintsugi and ornament kit that has all of the materials mentioned in this video as well as a limited edition ornament made and glazed in my studio in California.
