This song was released on February 27, 1998 as a pre-single for the album - three weeks after Falco's death, who had already largely completed the album.

Due to the lyrics of the song, rumors quickly emerged that Falco had committed suicide. Falco himself stated in a radio interview in 1997 that the song was about a man who, after divorcing his wife, became depressed and eventually became addicted to heroin. The “light” stands for heroin, “dark”, however, for the broken marriage.
