Painting realistic thicker fur in acrylics does rely on the right layering technique. Without the correct process, the layers lack depth and softness and the fur can look more wiry than soft. This would dramatically impact the realism that is achieved and consideration of this begins right at the base layer. Something that I show in this video =).
