Tsaile, AZ — Diné College proudly completed the Augmented Reality Project, a community-based initiative under the Fall 2024 Nits’ą́ą́dóó Ídahwiil’aah Mellon Foundation Fellowship. This final project was created by former Mellon Fellow Akilah Martinez and three BFA students—Nykesha Nez, Reid McKinley Jr., and Jodyle Wood.
The project developed a virtual environment incorporating Navajo language, culturally appropriate content, and contemporary Diné art. By blending traditional knowledge with modern technology, the team crafted an immersive augmented reality experience that highlighted Diné identity, storytelling, and cultural preservation.
