Today I meet Ivana who is a European female expat living in India with the most wonderful guesthouse named Utopia. Ivana gives us a tour of her home while explaining the very many facets of life as an expat woman living in Varkala on the southwest coast. From visa requirements, family, relationship status, business matters, hobbies, interests, to Ivana’s overall view of life in India for a single woman, this vivacious lady has a great insight into female expat life here.

I also meet Swiss expat Kerin who is another female expat guesthouse owner willing to let me intrude into her life and ask many questions regarding visa requirements, fears, her businesses, learning to ride a scooter on India’s roads, health insurance concerns, and a whole lot more. We tour through both guesthouses getting to know this delightful woman and her life in India.

Randomly I start chatting with a man on the street who himself owns an accommodation house near the cliffs and we discuss what he wants from life, his family, his touring on an Enfield motorcycle through southern India, his exercise routine, and much more.

I take you to my fruit and vegetable shop, talk to a random man on the street, watch as beach laborers take lunch from a government food van as I wander the streets.
