Saint Malo

Diese Stadt liegt an der bretonischen Nordküste. Wir waren im Sommer hier. Im Gezeitenrhythmus verschwindet regelmäßig der breite Strand und plötzlich klatschen Wellen an die Kaimauern. Dann wieder zieht sich das Meer zurück Menschen bevölkern den Strand. Die Sommerhitze ist erträglich durch scheinbar nie endenden Starkwind. Das Wasser hat eine angenehme Badetemperatur.
Sehenswert ist der historische Stadtkern mit seinen Festungsanlagen. Hinter der dicken Stadtmauer finden man Geschäfte und Restaurants. Die bretonische Küche bietet für einen germanischen Gaumen eine willkommene Abwechslung.

Cette ville est située sur la côte nord de la Bretagne. Nous étions ici en été. La large plage disparaît régulièrement au rythme des marées et soudain les vagues viennent claquer contre les murs du quai. Puis la mer se retire à nouveau et les gens peuplent la plage. La chaleur estivale est supportable en raison de vents forts apparemment sans fin. L'eau a une température de baignade agréable.
Le centre-ville historique avec ses fortifications vaut le détour. Des boutiques et des restaurants se trouvent derrière l'épaisse muraille de la ville. La cuisine bretonne offre un changement bienvenu pour un palais germanique.

This town is located on the north coast of Brittany. We were here in the summer. The wide beach regularly disappears with the rhythm of the tides and suddenly waves smack against the quay walls. Then the sea retreats again and people populate the beach. The summer heat is bearable due to seemingly never-ending strong winds. The water has a pleasant bathing temperature.
The historic town center with its fortifications is worth seeing. Shops and restaurants can be found behind the thick city wall. Breton cuisine offers a welcome change for a Germanic palate.
