Art Tatum is the undisputed king of jazz piano, famed for his virtuosic speed which has yet to be matched. How can we emulate this style of playing on the guitar?
By moving five note patterns which outline certain chord degrees through the octaves we can emulate the style of runs performed by Tatum, Oscar Peterson and Monk. In this video we'll look at applying this idea to pentatonic runs as well as dominant 7 b9 runs and discuss application of these sounds. Good luck with it!
