In the course of American history, perhaps no state has a history as violent as that of Texas. In the 1840’s, the Republic Of Texas was perhaps the most dangerous place on Earth.
The ongoing war between the Texians and the Comanche permeated virtually every facet of frontier life, as the Comanche sought to banish any and all intruders from their lands.
In the year 1840, the Comanche Chief Buffalo Hump had a vision.
In the dream, had seen the Comanche venturing on a great raid, from the high plains of Northern Texas, to the shores of the Gulf Of Mexico in south Texas, eradicating and eviscerating each and every Texian they encountered.
This raid, he told them, would drive the encroaching settlers out of the Comanche lands once and for all, and win great glory and esteem for the Comanche.
What followed Buffalo Hump’s raid was one of the most horrific, and most consequential battles in the history of the American frontier.
