Walking the City Boundaries on a Beautiful Summer's Day | HULL, ENGLAND.

Join me on this bright and breezy summer morning as we take a walk from the city boundaries of Hull around Priory Woods Cemetery and Peace Gardens in Cottingham, England.

This walk is unique in that we go between the city limits of Kingston upon Hull to the start of Cottingham village through some of the remaining green spaces yet to be built on. Our destination is a cemetery called Priory Woods which has seen a beautiful transformation take place in recent years.

It has become much more than a cemetery with a peace garden, room for natural burials and space for pets. With plenty of natural meadowland and two ponds, Priory Woods is now a sanctuary for anyone wishing to step away from the noisy city and just gather their thoughts.

It now comes complete with a memory garden for visitors to post a letter into a special postbox to remember a loved one, and a designated peace garden area with a water feature.

To quote Lisa Buttery from Hull City Council: “We wanted to create a really peaceful, tranquil space, and the addition of the memory and peace gardens has helped to achieve that. It really is a lovely space to walk around, while still being sensitive and respectful of those who’ve been laid to rest.”
