LPN to RN

More and more LPNs are also choosing to further their careers through LPN to RN degree programs. There are two options depending on the degree you want to earn on your way to qualifying for an RN license: LPN to ADN tracks that can be completed in as little as one year, and LPN to BSN programs that take about two years to complete. There are LPN to BSN bridge programs accredited online which is a great option for many students.
These nurses have more responsibility for patient care and many make 50 percent more than LPNs. With the high demand for skilled nurses, bridge programs are a popular option for LPNs wanting to advance their career and become registered nurses. These programs can be taken at a local college or university but many schools offer online options.
Tips for the LPN to BSN bridge program

As mentioned earlier, nursing programs are very competitive. To be accepted and complete the program, you need to remember a few things.

In most programs, you can decide how many classes you want to take. This will also determine how soon you receive your BSN. A full-time student in the bridge program can take two to three years. If you have work and family obligations, you may take longer. However, make sure you get credit for your on-the-job and academic credit. This will allow you to save money and finish the program sooner.
You will take a variety of courses as you complete your BSN along with the demanding nursing curriculum. If you are a person who is not disciplined enough to study or if you don’t like school, this program may not be for you. In most programs, you can decide how many classes you want to take. This will also determine how soon you receive your BSN. If you have work and family obligations, you may take longer.
Apply early for financial aid. Some nursing bridge programs are expensive and even though you may be working while you attend school, you may need help to pay for the program.
When searching for an accredited LPN to BSN bridge program online - make sure they have either Accreditation Commission For Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation. It should say this on their website.

From LPN to MSN

Even if you’re staring out with an LPN certificate, you can take advantage of a bridge program and shortcut the path to earning a Master of Science in Nursing. Still, there’s no way around the fact that you’re going to need to an RN license before being able to enroll in an MSN program. The most direct path to accomplishing this would be to enroll in an LPN to BSN program, earning your RN along the way, before then going on to enroll in a separate MSN program.

Alternately, you could complete an LPN to ADN program to qualify for your RN, then go on to enroll in a separate RN to MSN program.

The MSN you earn will have a specific focus in an area that aligns with your career path.
