Master Grade Vidar set to release in Spring ( March) let’s take a look at the HG to see what we might get on a larger scale.
What’s up Gunpla fam?! Today we are reviewing the High Grade 1/144 scale Gundam Vidar from Iron-blooded Orphans. Are you surprised to see the next MG is going to be Vidar? Me too Specially with so many great mobile suit designs ( graze, Gushion, Bael, and Lupus Rex) the list goes on and on. So I wanted to look at HG Vidar to get a better understanding of Bandai’s decision. Let’s take a dive into this IBO antagonist.
Reasons that make this kit ideal to build into a Master Grade. Possibly the easiest reason behind selection is the similarities in the Vidar and Barbatos design. Don’t be too surprised if they share a few similar runners. The design is a very menacing and prominent highlight. A beautiful bright blue gives it that appeal and standouts from many of the deigns in the Gundam series. The mechanics in the feet blades provide a unique action posing and the entire body allows for optimal articulation. Lastly the weapons/accessories will certainly be a strong selling point for most. The burst saber derives from a fencing sword and portrays the honor of Gaelio. The double pistols just look awesome.
Things Bandai will need to adjust from the HG. While I do expect some major changes, let’s discuss some concerns. So the most interesting correction needed will be those large side skirts that hold the saber blades. They do limit some movement and are too heavy at the connection point. Being a larger scale I could see better answer than the high grade, but that means the skirts will be heavier as well. The HG Vidar also had a fair amount of loose joints in the head and shoulders ( not a shampoo joke ) also those pesky side skirts again. One concern I don’t have for the master grade but is very common in the IBO HGs is the color correcting stickers.
I can’t wait to see the new Master Grade Vidar Gundam and it will not disappoint. It will be interesting to see the mechanics they utilize for the feet and side skirts.
