Exploatör - S/T 12" (2017)

First release from this hardcore punk band out of Sweden. Exploatör is a new project that seems to be somewhat of an effort to rejuvenate the classic Totalitär line-up, featuring founding members Poffen and Lanchy, and also Jallo who played drums with Totalitär from the mid-90s until they disbanded. Members played in several other projects including other hardcore bands like Dischange or Kvoteringen, or other more sonically adventurous bands like Brainbombs. Poffen has recently fronted many bands akin to his primary band's sound such as Institution, Dissekerad and most recently, Katastrof. While these are great bands, the addition of Lanchy returning to guitar instantly pieces together an important part of the puzzle. While you could argue for the importance and power of other Swedish bands like Mob 47 and Anti-Cimex, Totalitär's sound has a specific and instantly recognizable quality. It's interesting that Totalitär made many records over a few decades and the style of execution was never deviated from. With this combination of people making music, it's magic -- an instantaneous fist-pumper of an LP. Dig this.
