The National Unity Platform presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi, has rejected the presidential election results declared by the Electoral Commission, in which incumbent President Yoweri Museveni was announced the winner. Museveni’s victory means he will extend his rule for five more years, making him one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders. He would have led Uganda for 45 years by the end of his next term. President Museveni is set to be sworn into office on a date yet to be announced.
