Welcome to the UHF Horizon Podcast Update,
I'm Paige, your host for tonight. Lets start with recent uploads. The most recent VR video starring Xia and the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia has had a strong first 24 hours putting it at the second best performing video initially for UHF Horizon. At this moment there's 930 views with a 91 percent approval. As for subscriber count, UHF Horizon has seen an increase of 71 new subscribers in the past 28 days. The channel is only 77 subscribers away from hitting the 1,000 mark. It's hard to believe this channel is 4 and a half years old now. The first break away video was the 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo interior build.
Moving on to what is next. The final sets were built for the next car tales. This film is going to have multiple genres of pedal pumping in various vehicles with several characters. There will be cranking, stuck, driving, and brake failure.
I'll finish with a story from my past from the fan favorite car, my 1959 Chevy Impala. I was in my early twenties and had gotten a job with a law firm in the city. I still didn't have enough for a new car but I did have enough to start buying nicer clothes. It was important to look the part in the office so that morning in my white blouse and navy knee length pencil skirt I had slid on my suntan pantyhose and my soft black leather pointy toe pumps with a 3 inch stiletto heel. I had to put on a black peacoat and silk gloves as I exited my house in the cold, crisp early winter air. My heels clicked as I walked towards my old Impala. I inserted the key, unlocked the door, and opened it causing an awful creaking sound from the rusted hinges. I slammed the door shut as I sank in the worn, supple leather seat as I put my purse on the floor and rubbed my hands together in the hopes to warm them. I instinctively reached my pump clad foot to the big accelerator pedal and gave it a few firm pumps. I reached forward and slid the key into the ignition. Here goes nothing I thought to myself as I turned the key. The engine whirred lazily as if not wanting to wake from its winter slumber. Oh screw you I said to the car and I gave the gas pedal a few more stern pumps. I tried again and the engine just wouldn't turn over for me. I absolutely did not want to be late so I continued pumping the gas pedal, this time not stopping while I turned the key trying to coax the car to life. I was cranking the car over and over but it just would not start for me. I began getting upset. I don't know if it was at the car, the situation, myself, or all of the above, but I started pounding the gas pedal with my high heel. Suddenly the gas pedal fell off my foot slid on the linkage. I looked down to see the rubber gas pedal laying on the floor. I don't want to repeat what I said but I definitely hit all seven of George Carlin's 7 words you can't say on television. I had a choice, either try to remount that stupid pedal or pump the linkage. I already knew my foot was slipping on the linkage so I leaned over to remount the gas pedal on the ball studs and pushed it down with my hand a few times making sure it would stay put. I leaned back and tried the ignition again. There was more promise in the sounds the engine was making so I started gently pumping the gas pedal over and over and faster and faster until finally the engine sputtered to life. I revved the motor hard blowing out that nasty carbon before pushing in the brake pedal and reversing out of my driveway. I felt so accomplished and put the car into drive, gave the car some gas, and the engine started sputtering on me. No! I yelled as I stomped the gas pedal fighting with the car to keep it running. It was on the verge of stalling as I was desperately slamming the gas pedal down with my high heel pump. I wasn't giving up, I wouldn't let the car win. I was pumping the gas pedal as fast as I physically could and that was just enough for the car to concede and stay running. It was going to be a long ride to work that day I felt.
