Today I’m driving the brand-new Alpine A390, the electric sports fastback that marks a huge new chapter for the Alpine brand. This is a company built on lightweight, agile, soulful sports cars — and now they’re diving head-first into the electric era. The big question is: does the A390 still feel like a proper Alpine?

In this review, I take the A390 out on real roads to see if it delivers that trademark Alpine DNA in an electric package. We’ll talk design, driving feel, everyday usability, performance, range, refinement and, of course… how it stacks up against one of the biggest rivals in the segment: the Porsche Macan Electric.

I’ve seen a lot of hype around this car, and after spending time behind the wheel, it’s clear Alpine hasn’t just slapped its badge on another EV. There’s genuine character here.
